| Chantrix Vs Zyban Vs Champix |
Chantix with Varenicline as active ingredient is smoking
cessation formulation launched by Pfizer Inc. for sale in the U.S.
as approved by FDA. The same drug, under brand name Champix is sold
within U.K. Both Chantix and Champix are thus same except their
brand names. So it could be termed as Chantrix or Champix Vs Zyban:
Chantix having Varenicline Tartrate as salts and Zyban having
Bupropion as their active ingredients are popular prescription drug
formulations directed to help the adults willing to quit smoking.
Chantix is the smoking cessation medication designed, produced and
launched by Pfizer Inc. which helps diminishing nicotine desire and
withdrawal effects in smokers whereas Zyban is designed, produced
and launched by GlaxoSmithKline-GSK has been approved as the
anti-depressant medication which is mostly used for treating the
condition known as major depressive disorder. Additionally, Zyban
has been approved by the FDA in 1977 as the helping drug to patients
who are willing to quit smoking.
Even if both the medications are approved for almost similar usage,
but both of them differ in various ways.
Chantrix acts on the
nicotine sites in the brain helping the user to quit smoking whereas
Zyban is supposed to act as smoking cessation lately since 1997 and
yet the scientists are unable to its vital mechanism. Chantix is
better than Zyban as shown in two recent studies and is almost tree
times as effective as placebo. Chantix 1mg twice daily dose is
effective as compared to Zyban 150mg twice daily dose which acts
better than placebo but less effective as compared to Chantrix.
